Hello Modellbaufreunde !
Here is what's on my workbench recently.
It was a project that I started... a long time ago... and I took it on my workbench one month ago to finish it.
It will be a diorama with the Focus of McRae in the Monte Carlo rally of 2001.
Here's where I am currently :

Hallo Steve,

The weathering was done using different techniques.
1) some highly diluted sand color paint using the airbrush
2) Some AK Interactive washes that I clean afterward with a clean brush and some thinner
3) lots of pigments of several shades that I apply roughly and clean with a brush or simply with a finger
4) some brown colors applied with a very small sponge to simulate mud
5) some clear shiny paint (Future for example) applied with a brush in selected areas to create wet effect
Grüss :) ;)
Hoi Steve,
not using the old toothbrush for sprinkling on mud? :D

Gruass Carlo
Vielen Dank MacMeister and Carlo :)
Yes I used a very little toothbrush but since it's Monte Carlo rally, the car doesn't have much mud like in the RAC Rally for example.
Hi Steve
Thanks for the explanations - English is no problem for me, just go on! ;)
But I'll stick to German because that's much easier for me and I think also for some guys here in the Forum. 8)

Hi Steve!

Hallo Modellbaufreunde ! :)
Here are the next steps on my Ford Focus WRC
Colin et Nicky in place with their harness. As you can see, I am not a specialist with figure painting.

<<switch to english>>
I started yesterday evening the base for my diorama. I am not a diorama guy so there will be a lot of experimentation.
I took an A4 photo frame to start. Then cut and stick together some hard-bound paper to create some kind of volume of the road.
Then I will glue some mashed paper (in french "papier mâché) and create the border of the road.
I will show you some pics as soon as possible.
SAli Steve
Tolle Arbeit

Hello ! Here is the last step of my McRae display.
First some cardboard to realize how it looks like
(http://i68.servimg.com/u/f68/11/18/93/05/img_2517.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/11189305/247)
Then the definitive version in wood
(http://i68.servimg.com/u/f68/11/18/93/05/img_2518.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/11189305/248)
Then I created the texture and applied a coat of water base dark grey.
I started to apply the snow :

In background the products I used

Then I created some snow under the car
(http://i68.servimg.com/u/f68/11/18/93/05/img_2612.jpg) (http://www.servimg.com/view/11189305/251)

Hi Steve
Claudio
Hi Steve,
While I am usually fully into 1/35, the model of this car is fascinating. Weathering is great and you encourage me to try out some traces of snow on my own model.
Markus

Hi Steve
Looks great! 8)
But i wouldn't prefer these tires for snowy track conditions! ;)
The wheatering also looks realistic! Perhaps you could add some dark (shiny) brown pigments to simulate fresh mud to the sideskirts?
Greets Carlo
Thank you for your kind comments guys ! Yes Carlo, you're right, I could have added some fresh mud but the car is finished and I don't like to change it afterward.
I took some photos in snowy conditions in my garden. Believe it or not, but if you see snow or drops on the model, it's because it was really snowing when I took the shots !

Hi Steve
Really great job and stunning pics! Very well done!
The 2nd pic is my favorite!

BTW:
McRae was driven without rh mirror?!
Hi Steve
Great job, congratulation!

Bonjour Steve,
Tres bien mise en Scene, surtout Avec l'arriere naturel! ;D

Thank you very much for your comments ! Glad you like it.
Well seen guys ! Some WRC don't have right rear view mirror (I guess to save some weight). That is the case for the Focus of McRae on this rally.
If you want to know what happened in Monte Carlo in 2001, check out this video.

TOP!

Thank you Steve,
It doesn't really save weight but i guess you just don't need that extra rear mirror when youz have a good co-pilot. The WRC blends in very nicely with the snowy Background, well done ;D
Cheers

Thank you very much guys ! I am glad you like it. To be honest, it was my first dirty WRC in action. I was usually building them clean, bright and without pilots !
I switched to an airplane now : 1/48 Special Hobby CAC-12 Boomerang
Will show you the progress soon.
